EZTest is a self-contained biological indicator for monitoring steam / flash steam, ethylene oxide, hydrogen peroxide, or propylene oxide sterilization. EZTest contains bacterial spores on a filter-paper carrier packaged within a small, thermoplastic culture tube. Inside the thermoplastic culture tube is a sealed-glass ampoule of specially-formulated soybean casein digest culture medium containing a color indicator which turns a dramatic yellow when spores grow. EZTest is easy-to-use and produces visual results within 24 hours (steam, hydrogen peroxide, or propylene oxide) or 48 hours (ethylene oxide) without laboratory transfers.

Use
Please follow instructions provided with each box of EZTest biological indicators.
- Place the EZTest biological indicator in a horizontal position in the most difficult to sterilize location of the load.
- For Flash cycles, articles should be unwrapped.
- Place a sufficient number of EZTest biological indicators throughout the load to be sterilized. NOTE: This number will vary depending on the regulations being met but never less than two is recommended. Ten units per cycle is commonly used.
- Expose the load to the sterilization cycle.
- After sterilizing, send test units to the test laboratory along with at least one non- sterilized unit marked POSITIVE CONTROL.
- Following exposure, remove the EZTest biological indicators as soon as the load cools or has been aerated.
- Crush the glass culture medium ampoule using a SGM crusher to activate the culture system.
- Place in appropriate incubator. EZTest Steam, H2O2 or PPO: 24 hours at 55-60°C.
EZTest Gas: 48 hours at 35-39°C.
- If the spores survive the sterilization cycle, the culture medium will turn to yellow (positive).
- If the spores have been killed, the culture medium will remain the original color (red - ethylene oxide; purple - steam, H2O2 or PPO).
- It is best to read results approximately every 12 to 24 hours.
- All positive (yellow) samples should be recorded and discarded immediately. All yellow samples should be autoclaved prior to disposal.
Storage
Room temperature.
Expiration
24 months from date of manufacture.
Certification
EZTest biological indicators are traceable to a recognized culture collection and certified for population, D-value, Z-value and performance.
