SGM Biotech, Inc. is the only company in the world dedicated solely to the manufacture and development of biological indicators. Since 1988, our biological indicators have been used worldwide by medical and industrial facilities to monitor steam, low temperature steam formaldehyde, ethylene oxide gas, propylene oxide gas, dry heat, hydrogen peroxide, and radiation sterilization processes.
We have created sgmbiotech.com to provide our loyal customers with vast information about our products and services, as well as the science behind sterilization monitoring with biological indicators.
| Paper: Understanding Biological Indicator Grow-Out Times |

The data collected in this study are being submitted to facilitate ISO development of a globally accepted RIT protocol.
Analysis of nearly 4000 data points indicated that there is an inverse relationship between the number of surviving
spores on a BI and the overall incubation time needed for a nonsterile result to be detected.
This study was co-authored by SGM Biotech, and data was collected in the Smart-Well Incubator. Republished with permission from Pharmaceutical Technology.

The Smart-Read™ system allows the release of sterile product with true biological confirmation faster and easier than ever before. This unique system uses a real biological indicator -- with no added enzyme or chemical integrator -- which is incubated, evaluated, and documented in one simple, automated operation. Based on familiar, proven technology, all results are 100% verifiable by the operator.
The Smart-Read system includes the Smart-Read EZTest self-contained biological indicator for steam which is specially designed for rapid evaluation in the advanced Smart-Well® incubator. |

| Pflug Microbiology and Engineering of Sterilization Processes Course |
|
Dr. Irving J. Pflug's Microbiology and
Engineering of Sterilization Processes course will be held on
May 5 - 7, 2010 in Deerfield, Illinois.
The objective of this intensive, three-day lecture / problem-solving course is to help the student develop an understanding of the basic
principals of both the microbiology and engineering aspects of sterilization principals.
